This is a very common problem in the female population and in recent years we have also operated on several men who also don’t like the configuration of their nipples and arealoa.
Some ladies have very prominent nipples that look thick and long. In such cases, we employ a unique surgical technique called the WW – Flower Petal operation where the size and grith of the nipple is trimmed down tremendously until it has a pre pregnancy appearance. The method involves making multiple triangular flaps at the base of the nipple which look like the petals of a flower. The flaps are closed together as if watching a video of a flower opening but in reverse. This leaves very neat scars that cannot be seen and there is a high degree of accuracy and predictability in achieving the desired size of nipples. This technique maintains full senasation for the nipples.
Reducing the areola is a more complex and difficult procedure that involves cutting circumferentially around the areola, shrinking it to the desired size and then advancing the skin edges to close the wound. Sounds easy but it isnt. Maintainance of a good stable shape is achieved by using a de-epithelialised subcutaneous flap ensuring a good fascial seal.
The Nipple and Areola reduction can be performed on its own or in conjunction with either a Breast Augmenataion or a Breast Reduction.
One additional procedure that is performed is a Nipple Areolar Complex (NAC) Lift that is usually done at the same time as a Breast Augmentation
