Lower eyelid surgery — known as lower lid blepharoplasty — is a procedure to improve or remove the unsightly, bulging fat pads of the lower eyelid as well as to smoothen the skin and wrinkles of the undereye area. It is also an important method for improving and treating under-eye dark circles. It can be performed using a completely scarless method that recovers very swiftly.
Postoperative swelling and bruising are minimal, lasting 2-4 days only. Most people can get back to work on the 3rd or 4th day after surgery.
What is lower eyelid surgery?
Eye bag surgery also called blepharoplasty of the lower eyelid, is a cosmetic procedure that primarily removes excess bulging fat of the lower eye area that is responsible for deep tear through shadows and making people look tired and puffy. People with eyebags also notice that they have dark circles of the eyes too which are significantly reduced after the operation.
How much does lower eyelid surgery cost?
The price for eyelid surgery can vary by region, the experience of the surgeon, and other factors. Dr Wu has performed the transconjunctival (scarless) method for the last 32 years. Cost of the surgery ranges from $5950+950 ++ to $6350+950++
depending on the size and complexity of the eyebags. This is the cost for the eye bag surgery, including costs for operating room facilities and anaesthesia. However, it does not include the cost of medications, eye drops and creams which are essential for quick recovery.
Eye Bag Surgery
Surgical eye bag removal in Singapore is still the gold standard for treating bulging, under-eye fat. The results can last for decades. The eye bag surgery itself takes from 30-40 minutes only and is performed under local anaesthesia in the doctor’s clinic. Dr Wu’s method has no external scars or any evidence of external stitching. Postoperative swelling and bruising are minimal.
However, it is not the only option.
Injectable fillers
Patients with early eyebags or mild tear trough deformities can have a judicious amount of filler placed below them to help smoothen out the contours, to camouflage them and soften the transition from the lower lid to the cheek. This is a convenient non-surgical quick fix but there usually comes a time when the fillers no longer work and may swell due to water absorption. At such a stage, surgery is still the best option.
Laser treatment
Heat-producing lasers can stimulate skin cell renewal and re-texturise the lower lid skin.
